Alan Chivers has been appointed as Director of Fleet Operations for SFS.
Alan, who has over 38-years’ experience in commercial and municipal vehicle provision, will be overseeing all aspects of the SFS’s extensive nationwide local authority fleet, vehicle maintenance and workshop management contracts. Alan will also be working closely with the SFS team on the implementation of strategies regarding the electrification of customer fleets and the utilisation of alternative fuel vehicles.
Bob Sweetland, Managing Director, Specialist Fleet Services said: “Alan has a proven track record in managing diverse and complex fleets, and brings with him a raft of experience and skills to complement and enhance our activities. We are delighted to welcome him to the team.”
Alan Chivers began his working life in 1983 as a Commercial Vehicle Engineering apprentice for Reading Borough Council. During his career he worked for a range of private and public sector organisations, progressing to roles such as Workshop Manager and Fleet Manager for a commercial vehicle engineering company. Prior to joining SFS Alan was Head of Fleet Services for the Isle of Man Government.
